So if I'm eating clean and nourishing my body as best I can, why the heck would I use products like makeup and shampoos with tons of chemicals and toxins in them?!?! Now I'm not saying you have to go 100% hippy and use all natural use baking soda and vinegar (although some do, no judgement :-/....just not for me). BUT, we can be more conscious of the quality of the products, the ingredients, and how its processed. Just because a product is processed doesn't make it bad, it's HOW it's processed. But that could be a whole other blog post. The point is, we need to be aware of not only the foods we eat and the ingredients in them but the products we put on our bodies. The majority of mainstream body care products contain a cocktail of carcinogenic chemicals, allergens, and irritants-many linked to cancer, breast cancer, allergies, skin irritants and more. To eliminate a lot of toxic chemicals, preservatives, and fragrances that are harmful to our bodies, we need to choose certified organic and natural skin care products.
I know I've needed to make this change for a while, but it's a bit daunting thinking about all the products I love and use. My goal, as I have with food, is to shoot for at least 80% cleaner products....baby steps. :-)
So...... I decided for a complete overhaul in my skincare. And when I saw complete overhaul I mean everything from body wash to mascara.
In my search for the perfect place, I came across Pink Dot, where they carry vegan, organic, high-performance, all natural, cruelty-free products. Now listen, I've been a MAC, Chanel, Sephora kinda girl so I was a little hesitant how these products would be.
Well, I met the fabulous Meghan and she spent almost 2 hours playing make-up with me teaching me EVERYTHING about the quality of the products, how to use them, and so much more!! It was a blast! If you're in or near Charleston, absolutely go by there and check 'em out! Like, I'm obsessed now.
I can't wait to transform my skincare routine with CLEANER makeup and skincare. It's been a long time coming. If you have any questions or need help with an overhaul, I'd love to share with you what I know and am learning along the way!! Shoot me a message!
(Best part? You can buy all these fabulous products off their website!)
